JJ...the pictures you remember were on other peoples cars.....
I can even recall white ones
Have had a look and found some comment on aftermarket mud flaps on a ForFour....
(even mentioning Vauxhall ones !) now there's a turn out for the books.
Hope no one objects, as here is a 'doctored' version of the comments made :-
'..basic generic flat type that are "supposed" to fit any vehicle.....
....did help in keeping the car a bit cleaner - it certainly reduced the stone chipping ( from the front wheels)
I was experiencing on the front of the rear wheel arch, but the rear of the car still gets dirty.
...found it quite awkward to fit them properly to the ForFour as they did not fully match the contour of the wheel arch,
they have a steel reinforcing strip that is supposed to keep the mud flap stiff against the wheel arch.
....supplied with 3 screws, but this was not sufficient....kept feeling a slight vibration...subsequently proved by info from
a camera... that at speed the mud flap was being distorted back n forth by wind pressure....added a few more screws on
the front to reduce/stop this movement...rear ones I could not improve.
....was going to replace the generic flat mud flap with a more rigid "contoured" mud flap.
....from visual inspection the ForFour rear wheel arch may be comparable to a VW Golf Mark V - for fronts the contenders
could be a Vauxhall Astra / Meriva - or poss the latest A Class may fit both front and rear ?
...really needs someone with access to a range of vehicles to make up a template, and then compare it to another vehicle
as awkward to compare a template to a strangers car in a supermarket car park !'
Oh and in the survey I raised when I was thinking about fitting them the result was a 72% NO !
