Had her fan/alternator/aux belt changed today and my god the difference, no more horrid screaming. I would seriously advise against just tensioning your aux belt, if it starts to squeal get it replaced - especially if you have an auto!
Why?
Had mine tensioned by Merc at I think the last service, yes it stopped the squealing for a few months BUT I went replenish my screenwash and noticed the belt had actually split down the middle. I don'tthink its too bad considering the car is encroaching on the 70k mark, commutes on country/rural roads and does frequent 200mile motorway jaunts.
